“Should I Focus Only On One Talent?”
“Should I Focus Only On One Talent?”
What if you’re multi-talented? Maybe you’re an artist, musician, singer, poet and song writer? Should you only focus in one area of The Arts? Should you only do the one that you’re best at?
Or, should you challenge yourself and become good in all the fields you’re talented in?
I’ve heard this asked so many times! As a matter of fact, I asked the same questions (as a Fine Artist, Digital Artist, Writer and Poet) and have received many varied answers.
Sometimes an artist will need to focus on one art form to ensure his message gets across to his public and to also follow his purposes as an artist – really get the focus of the activities running the correct way. Then once that art form is going, add in the other art forms that all together will accomplish the purposes for doing art in the first place.
Take me for example, my visual art is the one that I focused on the most to ensure the message got across and that the purposes I was going for were getting accomplished. However, my writing is valuable, too. Not only do I write how-to’s, I write fairy tales and young adult fantasy – all of which have morals and lessons to use in life. In other words, my writing also helps others in life and has value to it. It’s not really a choice of what to go with but a choice of what to get down first. It’s not an “only one art form” decision. It is a decision of message, purpose and intention to start with one and then branch out to encompass all.
What could possibly happen if you use all your talents? Maybe new inventions? New art forms? Become wildly popular? There’s no limit to the possibilities…
Aim for the message, your purposes and use your intention to serve your art career right onto the track you want it on. Then add the next.
