What’s a Mentor? and, How I Mentor

An article about mentoring by ILIA.

A Mentor is a friend and a guide who gives YOU custom service to help you attain your dreams and goals.

It’s a person with a lot of knowledge in particular areas that can instruct others within the specific level each individual needs.

In my particular field of mentoring, I work with creative and talented people.

Creative and talented people, young and old, around the world have certain actions and questions that they need answered.  The person needs to gain certainty, know what to look for, both the bad and good and needs help that is specific to their particular dreams and goals.

Would a Mentor Go Off the Subject?

What would you think of me as a mentor if the very first thing I did was try to instruct you on how to create a website from scratch?  I’m guessing that you would not want to do that because it certainly isn’t what you expected to handle!

You wouldn’t want to talk to me ever again because creating a website is way off the subject of succeeding as a creative and talented person.

What you wanted was help to achieve your artistic goals!

The First Step I take when Mentoring is…

I Find Out About That Very Special Individual, the Creations Created, Dreams, Purposes, Goals and any Successes with an Artist Questionnaire.  This is a free service.

We work out a plan of action to accomplish what that artist wants.  Then every week we meet – either in person or virtually.  Step by step I get that artist through the steps.  We spend more time on areas that need extra work and less time on the areas the creative person gets fast.

All is planned with much care for that particular individual.

A Mentor wants another to learn and apply information that will help that person achieve their dreams as envisioned by the person.  This is much different than trying to achieve dreams envisioned by another for that person.

I use the Validate the Rightness method as it gets the very best results.

Best,
ILIA
